Electroweak analyses with electrons
I have designed and maintain the software for the RCT detector controls system (DCS), aka slow control software, see CMS RCT DCS Twiki.
I also work on the implementation of the RCT Trigger Supervisor code, see CMS RCT TS Twiki.
General information on the CMS RCT main Twiki page.
I was the convenor of the CMS physics analysis group on forward physics in 2007-2008. Forward physics with CMS at the LHC covers a wide range of physics subjects which have in common that particles produced at small polar angles theta and hence large values of rapidity provide a defining characteristics. These subjects include very low-xBj QCD, underlying event and multiple interactions characteristics, gamma-mediated processes, absolute luminosity determination, shower development at the energy scale of primary cosmic ray interactions with the atmosphere, diffraction in the presence of a hard scale and even MSSM Higgs discovery in central exclusive production.

The work of the forward PAG depends crucially on the forward detector instrumentation around the CMS interaction point:
- CMS Castor calorimeter
- CMS Zero Degree detector ZDC
- TOTEM T1 and T2 tracking telescopes
- TOTEM Silicon detectors at 220 m
- Potentially FP420 detectors if approved as CMS project
FP420 aims at instrumenting the region around 420 m from the ATLAS and/or CMS interaction point with Silicon tracking and fast Cherenkov timing detectors. FP420 would add discovery physics with forward proton detection to the physics portfolio of ATLAS and/or CMS. FP420 was conceived as R&D project with ATLAS, CMS, TOTEM and LHC participation. Recently, the respective groups is ATLAS and CMS made requests to their collaborations for acknowledgement as official collaboration upgrade projects.
For general information, see FP420 R&D project homepage
The initial FP420 document of June 2005 on the basis of which FP420 became an R&D project acknowledged by the LHCC.
The FP420 R&D report of June 2008 provided to an CMS-internal refereeing body.
I was awarded a 3-year professorship at the University of Turin, Italy, under the program "Rientro dei cervelli" of the Italian Ministery for University and Research for a research proposal on central exclusive Higgs production. My profile on the cervelli web page.
